The golden sands of the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey beaches offer lovely sandy family fun, stunning scenery and glorious estuaries.
North Wales is a mecca for watersports. If you've never sailed before try the National Watersports Centre in Caernarfon. Surfing, kite surfing, kayaking and canoeing and white water rafting are all on offer in the area. For a more gentle watery experience try the rowing boat hire or paddle steamer trip on Llanberis lake.
Plas Gwyn is located in the foothills of Snowdonia, one of the UK's national parks. Walkers, climbers and ramblers will find themselves right at home, however there are many gentler trails around Llanberis where you can enjoy a relaxing stroll.
For family days out why not try the Greenwood Centre, Gypsy Wood, Anglesey Sea Zoo, Electric Mountain or pick your own at Hootons Home Grown (with well stocked farm shop).
Take to the track (spectating or track days) at Anglesey Circuit or enjoy a thrilling pleasure flight from Caernarfon Airport with on-site air museum.
There are excellent mountain biking opportunities around the area.
Llanberis is the home of the National Slate Museum, you can also venture underground to experience the Welsh Slate industry at Llechwedd Slate Caverns and copper mining at Sygun Copper Mine.
Enjoy a pleasure boat trip to Puffin Island aboard the Cerismar Two.
Sea fishing and lake fishing is available in the area.
Plas Gwyn is less than 15 minutes from both the Snowdon Mountain Railway and Llanberis Lake Railway. A little further afield are the Ffestiniog Railway and Welsh Highland Railway.
If the weather is less than perfect, don't despair. Try indoor karting at nearby Red Line Karting, or visit the Galeri in Caernarfon, North Wales Theatre in Llandudno or Cernarfon Leisure Centre. Or visit Llanberis or Betws-y-Coed for some souvenir and craft shopping.
Both Llanberis and Caernarfon have several good eateries, Indian at Spice of Llanberis (Llanberis) or Sopna (Caernarfon), Cantonese at Fu's (Caernarfon) as well as traditional British and Welsh cuisine including Peak Restaurant (Llanberis) and the world-famous Pete's Eats (Llanberis). There are many good takeaways available and a number of good pubs and inns in the area.
North Wales is famous for it's Castles and National Trust properties with several stately homes within easy travelling distance including Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd. The world famous Italianate village of Portmeirion is around an hours drive. For theatre try Galeri in Caernarfon, North Wales Theatre in Llandudno.
